100Hands is a luxury menswear brand globally celebrated for producing what many sartorial experts consider some of the finest handcrafted shirts in the world. Founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife duo Akshat Jain and Varvara Maslova, the brand is headquartered in Amsterdam, while its highly specialized production takes place at their family-owned atelier in Amritsar, India.
The company's evocative name perfectly captures its philosophy: each shirt passes through the hands of roughly 50 skilled artisans—totalling 100 hands—before completion. Akshat’s family brings over six generations of textile and hand-embroidered heritage to the brand, aiming to change the global perception of "Made in India" by showcasing the region’s rich history of exquisite, world-class craftsmanship.
The Art of the Process
While a standard mass-produced shirt can be manufactured in less than twenty minutes, a single 100Hands garment takes anywhere from 16 to 35 hours of intensive manual labor.
Pure Handcrafting: Every stage of production rejects mechanical shorthand. Patterns are individually hand-drawn, fabrics are precision-cut with scissors, and seams are meticulously aligned to match fabric patterns perfectly.
Incredible Stitch Density: The brand utilizes ultra-fine silk thread to achieve an astonishing 25 stitches per inch (compared to the industry standard of 12–15), creating seams that are exceptionally smooth, durable, and refined.
Signature Details: Authentic luxury is visible in the details, such as hand-attached collars and sleeves for an unparalleled fit, hand-sewn gussets for reinforcement, and beautifully hand-rolled bottom hems. A single embroidered buttonhole can take up to 45 minutes to execute.
